Our Safe Winter Driving Programs
Second Gear
Our most popular winter driving school program is a fun, fast-paced, and intensive full-day driving class suited to everyone who would like to advance their skills beyond the very basics of safe winter driving. Our skilled professional instructors will spend the day with you practicing braking, acceleration, weight transfer, cornering, and accident avoidance techniques to help you more confidently control your vehicle in adverse conditions. Since 1983, thousands of drivers, from the teen permit holder on up, have taken this class to improve their ability to more confidently control their vehicle in adverse conditions. We offer this popular class seven days a week. Our industry-leading student to instructor ratio of 6:1 or better provides plenty of personal attention for each student. Maximum of twelve students per class.
Included: One hour of classroom instruction, including video demonstrations and chalk talk, transportation to and from track, half-hour track and vehicle orientation, four+ hours of track exercises in front and all-wheel-drive vehicles with radio-to-radio instruction. Lunch included

First Gear
Get a taste of the theoretical and practical basics of safe winter driving in this short midday class. First Gear is an introductory class for apprehensive drivers or experienced drivers who simply want to brush up on their skills. Not recommended for new drivers, who should receive a full day of training (Second Gear).
Included: One hour of classroom instruction, including video demonstrations and chalk talk, transportation to and from track, half-hour track and vehicle orientation and two hours of track exercises in all-wheel-drive vehicles with radio-to-radio instruction. This abbreviated class is offered on limited days from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. Our industry-leading student to instructor ratio of 6:1 or better provides plenty of personal attention for each student. First Gear will be offered for the 2024-25 season on specific dates, and on demand for groups of 3-6 with significant advance notice.
